South Street Seaport Competition
3SP

The South Street Sea Port is a neighborhood full of potential. Dilapidated markets offer renovation opportunities with proximity to everything downtown NYC has to offer. 3SP (my proposal) can add momentum to rebuilding downtown by taking a decentralized approach spreading program throughout the neighborhood reinforcing its strengths.
Adequate restaurant and retail space led 3SP to provide a pedestrian terrace and sculpture, connecting Peck Slip Avenue to the community center which flows directly from the Fulton Fish Market creating a court at the terminus of Peck Slip Avenue).
Parking has appropriated Peck Slip Avenue and under the FDR. To create public spaces, this parking is relocated to the proposed mixed use structure; containing day care facilities, commercial office and retail spaces, a parking garage and high rise hotel and condos.
A series of screens with naturally occurring patterns and a limited material palette create aesthetic unity.
